Hi, I am wondering what the max size card people have managed to use in their 500? I need a larger capacity and don't want to buy a 32gb, for example, and it not work. Thanks

Rule of the thumb, the bigger the card, the more the CPU has to walk and search for sounds and that means time waiting. So don't think a bigger card is better unless the system is equipped for it and in this case, the 500 only has a pair of running shoes while something like the 5000 has a golf-cart.

Between 512MB and 4GB the 500 can handle them smoothly. 8GB and 16GB though works, but will give you a heart attack thinking something is wrong with unusual lag. I couldn't get used to it so I kept a 2GB in it ever since.

Officially Akai's site says 2GB max:

No idea where they got 256MB from. If he was confused and thought you meant RAM, that's still only 128MB max.

You should check the huge topic where people list the working cards, this info is valid for 500/1000/2500/5000:
