How to make samples cut eachother off?

Hey,

I'm very new to the MPC 500 and wondered how to make samples cut eachother of so that if you trigger a sample and then, before the sample ends, trigger a new sample, it stops playing the first sample.
I'd love to hear your solutions and experiences.

Been a while since I used the MPC500 so I can't remember exactly the steps for this, but it's in PROGRAM mode - Set Program play: MONO.

Yes, setting samples to Mono will make them stop overlapping when you repeatedly hit a pad. For multiple samples you need to set up Mute Groups. So if pad 1 has a loud hi hat and pad 2 has a muffled hi hat, you can play both without them tripping and overlapping over each other.
