Problem loading WAVs

Im trying to load drum samples on to my MPC 500 but only some of them show up and are randomly duplicated with many of the same file but only about 4 different kicks where there should have been 50.

All of the files are 16 bit WAV.

I tried changing the compact flash card and ordered a new one but had the same result. As far as I can tell both flash cards were the correct type (type 1) as specified in the manual. The first being 1 GB 'dane-elec' and the second 2 GB 'transend'.

Any help/advice would be massively appreciated .

Make sure the first 12 characters of the filenames are not identical, the 500 file browser cannot differentiate. In fact, try to keep all your filenames to 12 or less characters.

The behavior you are experiencing (same file names, same sound) is what happens on the 500, when the first 12 characters are the same, the 500 cannot differentiate the files and will keep playing the same sound for the first file it sees. As Tutor is pointing out, you'll need to rename the files so that the MPC 500 can see the files as different and then you can load them differently.
