the same thing happend to me:

"I had some major saving problems!!!

hafter finishing my first song on the mpc 500 with all the sequences chained togheter in song mode

I saved my work(Save entire memory)..... And when I tried to load the song back... SYSTEM ERROR !!

bam! That's one of those things that makes me just wanna trow the **** piece of gear out of the window..

but I chilled, collected my self and since I couldn't load nor (FOLDER) or (PROJECT)

I loaded the program with the sounds and It worked!!

mmm.. I thought.. loading of an folder didn't work and loading of the project didn't work, but loading up the program did work..

Then I tried to load the all seq&songs file..... System Error !!
and the mpc made an awfull noise, an loud white noise about 10 or 20 Decibel strong in volume for about one second.

I just got scared and turned the device right off..

This only happend to me once before with my mpc2000xl when I unplugged the midicable while it was transmitting to my VS2400CD porta.

After a few moments of catching back my air I decided to go for another try..

put the power back on and tried to load the all seq&songs once again..
same result again... SYSTEM ERROR !!

****... I tried for a third time.. but this time I tried to load a single seq
instead and it WORKED!!!

then I continued loading up all the seq one by one and eventually I had my complete song back!!!

but once again I couldn't save the song without having the same result as the last time... SYSTEM ERROR !! whenever trying to load it back

so I redid my procedure and converted the different sequnces in song mode to a long sequence instead.

Then I saved the song as:

program
all seq&songs

and it worked to load it back!"

that's what I wrote in a post reagarding saving with the mpc 500

http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php ... c&start=15

akai really have to correct that problem!!!

so im gathering that the best thing to do is to create a new folder and save everything to it when u put in work on a joint and then delete the old one rather then replacing the old one with the new one cause thats what seems to be causing the corruption. is this what eveybody does?

OMG.. Same thing happens to me!!
I usually save the program and "All seq&song" and never had a problem with that....
So yesterday I was playin' on the MPC and saved that as usual...
AND TODAY.. I tried to load it... the program works fine.. but when I load "All seq&song" I get the same errormessage followed by a loud noise...

Wow, and I thought I was the only one. It's like, you have to trick the MPC into loading what you want piece by piece. I eventually got to a point where I had to load one sequence at a time. If I had 6 sequences, 4 or 5 would load. Any more, then I would get the same result. Anyway, I got those to work, re-created the other sequences, which was not a big deal. Akai told me that it was corrupted, and to try and back-up the CF Card to my PC, format it, then put back what already worked. The problem is, you can't copy corrupted PGM, SEQ, or PRJ files, or really any bad file for the matter. When tech support basically says, "Dude, it sounds fugged up," I guess you're basically..well...fugged.

Like many other occasions, I had the MPC hooked up to my stereo and headphones at the same time. The error message noise was so loud, I think it took 5 years off the end of my life.
Maybe I'll just go and play Duck Hunt.
