i'm not even planning on using my 500 as a machine where i freak samples, but i just got it so that is what i'm doing.
anyway since it has the USB interface, i've just been recording and chopping the samples in recycle and goldwave on my windows PC (i'm usually a MAC OSX guy too!)
then i can just drag and drop em onto the MPC. my computer doesn't have an audio interface, so some of the samples i wanted to get from vinyl, i sampled with the 500, and then still cut em up in the computer.
i downloaded some drum samples that needed cropping. using the computer i was able to get it done way quicker than even on my MPC2000XL, where i have always done everything on the machine.
not to hate on the 2000XL at all, i'm not getting rid of it anytime soon.
i have joined the league of people who own more than one MPC, and now i know why. I'm so psyched to have this portable one. i have kept tons of mediocre drum machines around over the years so i didn't have to lug my 2000XL around. now i'm getting rid of all of those!!
