MPC 500 to 2000

Hello people, just found this place and I'm looking forward to checking it out some more.

I'm an infrequent user of my 2000, I got it planning to take it to work and travel with, but using a zip drive to save and the fact that its quite big and heavy means it never leaves my house.
I'm thinking of getting the 500 as it looks ideal for what I want, other than the lack of individual outs for mixing. So what I wanna know is how would I go about moving a project from the 500 to the 2000 as the 2000 has old style connections.

The manual says about data compatibility:

"MPC2000/2000XL - SEQ, WAV, SND, PGM (Most parameters of PGM file can be loaded.)"

So it look slike you could make beats on the 500 and then load them into the 2000.

I have an mpc 2000xl and a fivehundred,
but I havent manage to make either the mpc2 or 5 read respective memory cards.

I think it might work if transfering the files to the computer, But I'm not shure, I haven't try'd it.

Yeah, on the akaipro webpage it's says the fivehundred should be able to read and write samples and programs that both samplers can read.
If it's not working now they should hurry up making iit compatable with other mpc models in the future OS upgrades. If they stilll wanna go with the slogan that is: portable mpc....

Maybe...
Copy the data from the MPC500 CF Card onto a computer hard drive, then copy it from the computer hard drive to a Zip disk (or whatever disk format you use) to load into the MPC2000.

you'll need a zip card reader for the computer..

and then follow simon of australias instructions

I think I'm gonna go for it and get one anyway.
