IT ERASED MY MEMORY???

hi guys!
i'm writing you about TERROR I had few minutes ago..
After finishing 2 songs tonite( and I was really enjoy the results...!!), I saved all songs &pgms And all Seq...blabla..
BEFORE switching off, I found the option: write to internal memory ..
I decided to do it.. and mpc asked me to press REC to start operation..
after 2-3 seconds...ERROR!! and it showed me some cpu error..
NOW
TERROR
when I turn on the MP, it says me: "CPU adrr Read -PC(883.......)
after that
NOTHING!!

WTF!!!!
I LOST EVERYTHING??
It happened to some of you?

Wow, that stinks!!!1 Sorry to hear that. I wish I could shed some light on the matter but fact is, I never save to the internal memory. Hope you figure out the problem.

i NOW figured out that I can't do NOTHING now, because at startup it shows me the error, and it stop COMPLETELY WORKING!!

it seems a **** up CPU here!!

Well if it comes down to it just reinstall the OS.

yeah man, but how can I reinstall the OS if I can't go in the commands?
It just doesn't do NOTHING apart the error message....

I think there should be some type of way to reset it during power up...you may need to check the manual.

You could try the Initialize To Factory Default procedure (from page 106 of the manual)...
�� Initialize To Factory Default
Various Sample and Sequence settings can be saved to Compact Flash when the file is saved. The global settings found in the MPC500
(listed below) are saved to the internal Flash Memory and stored when the MPC500 is turned off. You can re-initialize the Factory Preset
settings using the following procedure.
1. Turn the MPC500 on while holding the [ERASE / UNDO] button.
2. Release the [ERASE / UNDO] button after the display shows [MPC500 (##MB installed)].

Or, you could try the OS upgrade procedure (from page 106 of the manual)...
�� How to Upgrade the MPC500
IMPORTANT: THIS UPDATE PROCEDURE WILL ERASE ALL USER DATA. Please save all of your songs, patterns, and samples to a
CF card or to your computer using USB before proceeding.
1. Save the new OS file from the website to the ROOT of the CF card using your computer.
2. Insert the CF with OS data into MPC500.
3. Turn the power on while holding down the [SHIFT] button.
4. When prompted by the display, press the REC button. The MPC500 will start the update procedure.
5. Because of all the new features and parameters, it will be necessary to re-initialize the MPC500 after the upgrade
procedure is complete. To do so, turn the MPC500 off, hold down the Erase button, and turn the unit back on.


If they do not work, I'd call AKai and ask if there are any service command, like buttons to hold down at power on, that might help. They might tell you to send it in for repair.

I have some news..
I tried to change the CF, I put back the original AKAI, and it seems to WORK..
what do you think? could be a CF problem? or a RAM problem??
I installed the 128 mb expansion I bought off ebay..

Well if you put the akai CF card back in, it's definitely not a ram problem. If there isn't anything on the CF card that you need I would try formatting the card on your PC. If your PC doesn't have a card reader you should pick an external card reader this will come in handy in the future.
