ungh,..... output so looooow

jees anyone using this actually try recording? If at least I could get the same output as I get in trim mode. Having to have the main volume cranked up to MAX is just a joke to me. I mean really. I feel like such a toy.

If I record my samples any louder they will distort at some point.

Master is at 0dB.

dood, i feel your pain this shit has been happenin to me , and pissin me the **** off.
i always boost it on my mbox or in pro tools.
but when i had my 2kxl all i had to do was keep the volume knob 1/2 way to achieve the same loudness i get with master db at 0 everything nearly maxxed and normalized in the mpc (which sucks) and the gain knob up 100%

Noticed this too when a friend with MPC experience trie dto show me a little. Hopefully there is a workaround??

I'm not sure about this, but I heard that the headphone output is louder than the main outs,...just though I would throw that out there.

well cuz we're bitchin about the main outs(whther it be pluggin your mpc for recording and/or live shows) there too low, you need that mixer to boost or boost on your audio interface.

i just wanna turn my gain knob halfway and say oh shit thas pretty damn loud (like on the 2kxl or the 4000-the only ones ive used besides the 500)
not all the way with everything boosted level-wise,etc. and then still have to worry about amping my mainouts with a mixer,etc.

id rather cut down on gain than find ways to amp it up (means more equipment and/or processing).

What do you want to plug it into, if not pluggin it into a mixer or audio interface with a gain control?

That is what the gain control on the mixer or audio interface is for, to allow for different signal levels.

If recording or playing live, are you not going through an audio inferface or mixer?

I do not know why the level is so low, I assume it might be to minimize battery drain, but I don't think there is anything you can do about it except turning the gain up on your mixer.

Not every device has the exact same output level, that is why your mixer has input gain control.

Just because one device has a certain output level, it doesn't mean that the MPC500 necessarily has to have the same level.

Yeah, that is common sense but well put. I use the 500 for portable reasons, so I don't really trip on the output level.
