SAMPLE CUT OFF

I GOT A QUESTION ABOUT THE SAMPLES GETTING CUT OFF WHEN IM TRYING TO OVER DUB,CAN IT BE FIXED?AND CAN SOMEONE BREAK DOWN FOR THE 32 VOICE POLYPHONY I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THATS ABOUT.

Are they samples you have recorded yourself, or pre-existing samples from Akai or elsewhere?

Have you trimmed off all the silence from the end of your samples?

You 'should' be able to play back 32 voices at once.

A mono sample takes 1 voice. A stereo sample takes 2 voices, 1 for left and 1 for right. So if using all stereo samples, you could only playback 16 samples at once.

If you have silence at the end of your samples, it will still take up a voice/voices to playback this silence after the actual sample audio. This silence will waste your available polyphony. So, if you do not fully trim all the silence off the end of your samples, you will be wasting voices, and will run into sample cut off problems sooner than you should.

IM ONLY USING A TOTAL OF 6 SAMPLES RIGHT NOW,THREE OF EM ARE AKAI SAMPLES THE KICK THE SNARE LOW HAT.DOES IT MATTER THAT I HAVE MORE SAMPLES LOADED THOUGH I AINT USING THEM?DOES THE LENGTH OR THE NUMBER OF INSTRUMENTS THAT THE SAMPLE PLAYS MATTER?NO SILENCE AT THE END OF THE SAMPLES

So I finally bought my 500 yesterday but unfortunately have run into polyphony problems already too.

As an example having loaded up the factory preset Program Q2...Hal (sorry I can't remember the full name of the Pgm) from the included CF card there is a kick drum on pad A1 and a cymbal on pad A8. If I trigger the cymbal and then the kick drum 3 times fairly quickly the cymbal cuts off! Now that doesn't seem at all right...

Even if the the samples in question are both stereo that is still only gonna be a maximum of 8 simultaneous voices. I've checked the mute groups, FX settings etc but the unit is only hours old and is as it comes from Akai.

Does this happen with anyone elses unit or have I just been unlucky? Or is it just a simple beginners mistake or something that i'm doing incorrectly? Failing that is the CPU just woefully underpowered? It seems strange that Akais factory presets would behave in such away...

Any input, ideas, help etc would be greatfully received.

if you retrigger a stereo sample repeatedly very fast the voices overlap causing voices to stack up very quickly because the orginal two voices are still playing....

i dont know if this is the problem in this particular case but something to keep in mind...

i have this same prollem- i jus got mine ive tried formatting and reformatting the OS and the CF cards- and booting it to a facotry default and checked all the mutes and made sure the samples were all on mono-
i also own a 2500 so its not a big deal imma have to send it back if no one has any better thoughts-
does tha ram make this prollem go away or is there cats out there with the ram and still having this prollem-
im very frustrated at this point as ive read about whole hell of alot of bugs and other cats having this issue as well like on average 1 or 2 every couple pages- about other things
( i realize i should have done some XTRA homewerk) but i own a mpc already i messed with the 1000 for a year or so before that- and im well versed on alot of equiptment so i thought i was in the clear-
unfortunatley nope-!!!!!!!!!!

PLZ if any one has any more ideas id be thrilled to know-
as well if any one WITH the RAM upgrade stil has this prollem -
or will the RAM itself actually fix teh prollem-

Go to program mode and check ur mute groups. Samples assigned to the same mute group cut of each other when triggered simultaneously.
