Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I just got the MPC500 and 3 brand new 512mb CF's. When I try to format one of them the MPC500 freezes. It stays on the same screen. Anyone have the same issue or any suggestions?

I had the same problem - I have no idea, just save it to the CF that came with it for now, that's all I can do until I get more info. If I hear anything, I'll let you know too.

Maybe those particular CF cards are not compatible with the MPC500?

Do you have access to any other types/brands of CF cards to test it out?

Try to format the CF card thru you MPC500. Especially if it has previous data on it. Its a good idea to format it anyways. Look on page 100 on the bottom of you manual. It says how to do it there.

Good Luck

I have this PNY 128MB CF (came with the Canon digital camera), but I'm pretty sure the SanDisk 512MB I haven't used yet should work too.

If anyone can understand how annoying the little glitches with the 500 can be, it's me. I had a problem like this before. Try this. After the machine is off (with the CF Card still in it) hold the Erase/Undo button and turn it back on. It will basically re-boot the system, which also puts all the original Demo sequences and whatnot. It will be set to Autoload, but you can always change that later.

I know you may have heard this before, but make sure you have the latest operating system from the Akai website. It might not help to much to do it, but it can't hurt. Good luck.
