Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Today i was on a train for two hours, so, well, I brought my 500. HAd loaded it up with a lot of drum machie samples, so I thought i would make some nice kits.

Well, i started loading samples, assigning to pads, the usual stuff. When I was happy with the first kit, I choose save, create new folder and bang, MPC hang.

Reboot. Redo the work. Save to the folder that apparently got created. Bang, hang again.

Reboot, redo work, save in another, previously created folder. Seem to work. However, trying to load the saved program gives me a corrupt file error.

Also, loading samples, and even scrolling between samples on the card took quite some time sometimes...

I have also had problems with corrupt files when replacing (saving over previous) files, a problem akai claims to be unable to reproduce. (and I usually get it if i replace a file two or three times...)

The CF card is one of the recommended (a Kingston 1GB card), and it works just fine with my PC card reader. I'm actually starting to think there is something wrong with the card reader in the MPC.

Anybody else having similar problems?

i had a problem when i tried to save my program from the CF card to the internal 128 mb thing. and it says system error, then i turend it off and now it says that every time i turn the thing on if the card is in when i turn it on, so now i have to eject the card before its on then put it in when its on already and it seems to work fine. but im gona try re formatting my card after i finish my first track on it and that might fix it. i dont think tihs is exactly like your problem, but if re formatting doesnt wokr for me im gona call akai... but i think it will work :D
