Installing the RAM

Hi guys (and girls), just got the 500, I have to say it is sooo powerful for a small box. It is one of the best thing I ever bought. Wondering if anyone have step by step instructions or diagram on how to install the 128MB memory. Any help would be appriciated.

make sure that you have a pc 100 or pc 133 S0DIMM.
since 128mb are hard to find you can use a 256mb but it will only read as 128.
''turn off''' the 500 then remove the battery cover & slip the RAM into the cream colored slot, snap it in. fire up the 500 then BAM! should say on the screen MPC 500 (128mb). hope this helps. peace!

When you insert the RAM stick just go slightly in at an angle, but evenly and make sure all the contact are pressed in, then push down till it snaps in.

Okay Thanks. It just seems that the RAM slot is very fragile.

It is... make sure you have the little indentation in the right spot and that the contacts aren't visable anymore before you push the memory down to lock it in place.

Well, we tried about 5 or 6 different USED notebook rams on my MPC yesterday (all 144pin sdram). NO LUCK. They were Samsung, Infenion, and Kingston 128mb I'm thinking of ordering this one.

Kingston - Memory - 256 MB - SO DIMM 144-PIN - SDRAM - 133 MHz / PC133 - 3.3 V - unbuffered - non-ECC

All the specs says it would work. Could someone pls verify this.

When I tried to install my RAM, one of the two plastic catches on either side snapped and the one remaining in place won't keep the RAM in place. Is there anyway around this please?
