Sample spilling over to next sequence

So, it's been two weeks and I'm pretty happy with my 500. I'm a first time MPC user.

I have one long string sample playing rhythmically one seq 1, when I scoll to seq2 in play, it spills over to the beginning of seq2, mostly because it's a 2 bar sample hit on the last measure of seq1. Is there any way of a mute group function for sequences?

I still don't have a good concept of tracks, maybe this would help?

You could assign the sample program to a mutegroup, lets say mute group 2. Then you assign an unused pad to mute group 2 to and record this on the first beat in any track of sequence 2.

You could also use the "Hold" mode and release the pad at the end of sequence 1!

There is also a setting in the 'other' menu, it has something to do with how samples at the end of a sequence should be played.

From the manual:

1. Press the [MODE] button and then the [PAD 8] (OTHER) button.
2. This will switch you to OTHER mode.
3. In the 'Edit select' parameter, scroll to choose 'Truncate dura.'
4. Select the 'Truncate dura.' field and select one of the following options for handling the duration between loops.

Sequence Length - The MPC500 records as played up to sequence length.

Sequence End - The MPC500 cuts the note at the end of the sequence even if you
hit the pad. You cannot record beyond the loop.

As Played - The MPC500 records your performance as it is played
