DO NOT BUY AN MPC500 UNTIL THEY FIX THE BUGS

God damn I'm so pizzed at Akai. They are the laziest, shoddiest, most useless bunch of idiots to have ever been involved in music tech. I have been on the verge of picking up a 500 but now that the full extent of the bugs are out in the open there is NO WAY I'm getting suckered again. It's a full-on one-man boycott of their whole operation, and if this forum has any sway in the purchase power of the people I will have spearheaded a virtual revolution.

I've had no issues. Maybe some people don't know how to scroll through the menus.

Once you start saving projects. And it wipes out you whole memory card and you have to format it. Then you will see that scrolling menus are the least of it's problems.

What bugs? Sorry, I haven't encountered any myself and am yet to check the bugs thread. As they say, ignorance is bliss?

@Avene: Please tell us what O.S. you're using and what type of RAM and CF card, do you work on batteries or adapter?

Maybe you can help us figure out why our MPC's have problems and others don't!

Haven't used batteries for a while. Eventually I'll get some nimhs and a fast charger. I can't use the power supply that came with it because I bought it in NY, and it won't work here in Australia. So I'm using old electronics power supply, 128mb Akai upgrade and 2gb Kingston CF card.

Seriously, only real problem I've had is the polyphony, but don't worry about it anymore. I once lost a couple of tracks I'd saved using version 1.11, so maybe that could be a bug, even user error. Although it hasn't happened in 1.13.
