Question for the original OS for mpc500

Hello everyone,
I am purchasing an MPC500 from my brothers friend. I dont know if he purchased it brand new. But the 'friend' says that he only took it outta the box, turned it on and hit some pads and that was it. Anyway, I wanted to know about how well the original stock OS performs. Is there an MPC500 user out there that is using the stock OS w/o the upgrade? If you are a user, do you encounter any of the bugs mentioned by the other users? I have noticed that most of 'them'(users) have upgrade to the new OS. I just wanted to know how stable the original stock OS is. I have been reading the thread about the bugs and how the OS is soo soo unstable. This scares me to the point I will want to sell the MPC500. But I dont know yet, so I guess will have to test it out? If the original OS works fine then I will keep it but if not I will have to post it up in ebay & sell it for 500 bucks or so. So please any heads out that are not having any problems w/ their MPC500-PLEASE POST YOUR SPECS. I will have to duplicate them so that I can test it myself and see if this is worth.
P.S. Which line of MPCs are the most stable???

Alright, I got it today. The MPC500 came with the Akai 128CF card. And thank god my brother saved his old 128 Ram from the MPC1000. I took it for a test drive. So far so good. I didnt check what version the OS was though(keep you posted). I also didnt try saving (I will tho). What I did was I only; recorded a 4 bar loop, played with stock programs, hit some pads, deleted the sequence. I didnt do any complex stuff. I will do some more test driving when I get home tonight. BUT IF this thing starts crapping out, I will definitely sell this thing and get a Roland SP606. Anyway. I will keep you guys posted. Pzzzz. Goodluck to me!

Welcome to the forum MERQRI. I am still using the first OS. Had a couple problems yet worked around them. When you do start saving,just make sure to create the folder you are going to be using first. What is the most stable MPC ? Can't give you an answer because I haven't used a 60 or a 4k.

SamOwen what version OS are you using? I am using v.1.10

So far I like the mpc500 its a little beast. I had an MPC2XL SE3. I wished I had kept it. Anyway, I am a little confused about the saving feature. I want to know if I save the Entire Memory -does that save my sequences also? Right now I just save the sequence and entire memory. Then when I load, I load the project and sequence.... Does this mean that everytime I make a new project. I gotta save the sequence and the entire memory project? I wanna know if I can just save the entire memory and thats all i would have to do.

I have not encountered any problems. I havent used song mode except once when i sequenced some real easy stuff and just to try it out. But Ive been staying in 1 sequence and recording the whole song in one sequence. I made the length to 16 bars and will make it longer once I do the chorus.

Yeah I have had it for a week already. Still no problems with the OS. I think Im going to keep this OS, I do not see the reason for me to update at all. I am only using the mpc to lay my sample sequences and the drum sequences. I dont even bother using the effects cuz I will track everything out in Nuendo2. But Ill keep my fingers crossed. MEGA DOPE!

Oh yeah, to those people that have the recent OS, have you guys tried downgrading to the original OS? Any success?
