Hi, I've been browsing the 500 section for a while, thought I'd finally join and ask questions. I plan to get a 500 in Dec., because I need the portability, I have a laptop and trigger finger but sometimes ideas can slip away in the time it takes to boot up and get Live started. And the 500 would be a great tool to utilize all that spare time between classes.

I'm just wondering, how has the polyphony been so far on the 500? Do you ever really push its limits? I can see simple beat making and not having to worry and even when I do music on my laptop I like to keep things simple.

I am still in the beggining stages of using my mpc-500 but i have had it running with drum hits and a breakbeat - trigerring midi instruments and firing samples off with no problems

As far as I am concerned the machine is excellent - it would never fully replace my cubase setup but for getting basics down and ideas - i cant emphasise how much more creative it makes me as opposed to sitting in front of cubase - it takes me back 15 years to th edays of my commodore amiga (but much more powerful)
