Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

1. Have they released a working OS yet thats not gonna corrupt everything I do?

2. I remember ages ago seeing a demo of a guy using an MPC...3000 I think it was, and what he was doing, was using track mute, and he could mute tracks in one sequence, and then unmute some in the 'next' sequence.. if that makes sense? so it turned out kinda like a DJ mixing between records - he could have the drum tracks of one sequence playing while the drums of the next were muted but other tracks were playing

Just wondering if this can be done on the MPC500 too, cos I'm looking to use it for midi sequencing live and being able to transition between tracks like that would be incredibly useful. If not the 500, can the 1000 do it? Dont really want to go any bigger than the 1000 because its a very 'minimal' rig I will be running.

thanks

Get a 1000 if you want to do dj live work, and also, check out the JJOS for it. There is a free version and a demo of the paid version that has something called Simult Sequence and track mutes you can use the pads with. Many of the DJ's on here that have the 1k really like it for live use.
