Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

The samples are assigned to separate tracks and the tracks are assigned to the correct program, but when I try to play more than 2 loops along with my drums, one of the samples will cut off. When I mute one or two tracks (especially the kick), the samples will play all the way through with no interference. And I still have sample time left. This is supposed to be a 48-track sequencer. What's up with that? The last question I asked was pretty lame, but this one is pretty tricky. Any suggestions?

The sounds might be clashing with eachother for some wierd reason. Try lowering the volume on one of the samples. That might work.

I have the same problem too, sometimes triggering another sample stops the first sample, and sometimes it doesn't. I will try the volume too.... but I have been using the same track on the sequencer, so will try that (although the problem happens when just playing along and not just recording - will this make a difference?). :?

Check "mute group" if samples or drums are set to same mute group, that will happend

It might be the polyphony. Set each pad to monophonic, then the classes in the software wouldno't get in conflict. Don't understand this? Just try it ;-)

(Whoa, im bad at english)

Thanks for all of the advice. Setting the pads to monophonic sort of helped, but what really cleared up most of my problems was the installation of version 1.13. My MPC 500 shipped with v1.1.

This helped clear up a few glitches. If anyone else has polyphony problems, I would recommend installing the update and re-initializing the unit. (In addition to the other setting changes described the previous posts). Happy Days!

And don't use any effects except for the master effects. Use effects on ReCycle or something else first. I think most of the effects kinda suck, anyways...
