SYSTEM ERROR!! but only for one Project??

The most recent project I have completed cannot be accessed. Somehow, if I load just the Program, the data (samples only) will be in the pads with which they were assigned. When I try to load a sequence, folder or Project, I get the message SYSTEM ERROR!! flashing, and the entire machine freezes up. I have to turn the whole thing off and start over. As far as I know, the 1.13 OS is the newest one. Any ideas??

Does this happen when you try to load multiple sequences (ALL-File)?
Try to load the single sequences.
select the ALL-File, then choose the single seq option.

The same happend to me. I loaded sequence by sequence and was able to resave the project without problems. The trick was to leave the last pattern (seq) unloaded. Whenever this pattern (in my case seq was part of a project an error occured during the load-process.

You have to try and load the single sequences out of the ALL SEQ file, but at least one of them will likely be corrupt. So you have to go through each and write down which ones cause the error, then go back and rebuild your project, loading only the good single sequences. Then load the programs and samples.

It won't be just for one project. This will continue to happen on future ones. I got tired of rebuilding projects over and over, so now I don't save. I just leave it on and record the final out to another device. I've already emailed Akai, with files to show the problem... no response, no OS update.

When you say the ALL file, are you talking about All Sequences and Songs? If so, I can't do it. I get the SYSTEM ERROR !! message that flashes, and the only thing I can do after that is to turn it off. I can load one individual sequence from that folder (I only had 2 seq. to begin with), but when I try to add a second one, it makes a static noise, and then I get an error message:

this is scaring the <censored> out of me. When I check the Status from the MPC, it says

WAV: 100% SQ: 100%
Bat: 12.00V

That'swhen I turn it on, before even loading any thing. The actual CF card has Used Space of only 115MB, Free Space being 858MB (1GB card). There's barely anything on it. I don't get it. If either of you know what I am talking about, is it something I can do myself, or do I need to call Akai directly?

When you try to Load the ALL file there is a field that says something like "ALL SEQUENCES". Go down and toggle it to do a single sequence. Then you can pick which one by scrolling through all the ones listed.

that's the thing. I can load one sequence, which has no sound at all. I'll hit play, the time will move, but no sound. Or, if load just the Program, I can hit each of the pads the way I had already assigned the samples before. the next time I try to load a sequence, I get the message that I talked about before, and then I have to turn it off and then start all over again. Every time I save a new project, I turn it off, wait, then turn it back on and re-load it to make sure it sounds the way I want it. Every single time. This time it didn't work. The data is there, I just can't get to it, and I have no idea why.

Try removing the CF card, turn on fresh, does status still show it full?
If so try removing EXM128, same?
Copy everything to your computer, reformat CF in MPC, copy back to CF, still errors on load?

I feel you, all there is to do is mess around like that to try and figure it out. But these things are buggy, so not much can be done.

I removed the CF Card, and the status was still full. I assume the EXM128 is the RAM, and I have no idea how to even mess with that. When I tried to copy everything to the computer, all the .PRJ files would not copy over, saying that the file was corrupt or something (even the projects that worked before) . I could get the .ALL and the .PGM files to copy over, along with all the .WAV samples, but that's about it. I put the card back in, all the other Projects, Programs, and Folders are fine. I can still load the Program for the corrupted Project and hear all the samples like I said before, but that is far as I get.

Ya, corrupt CF files then. You have to do

Load: All sq&song
Fil: ALL SQ..ON

Hit "DO IT"

Load
Single seq

Hit "DO IT"

The top field scrolls through each sequence in the ALL file. The bottom is your current setup. Load each one from the top to the right spot in the bottom. If any give you an error, you have to start over and skip the ones that error.

That's how I recovered some of my corrupt projects. Otherwise, there's not much you can do.

well, I didn't exactly recover it, but here's what I ended up doing. I just deleted All Sequences and Songs, then I loaded the program. After that, I re-saved the Project. The sequences were gone, but all the samples and the program were still left intact. This has to be one of the weirdest problems I've had with this thing, but I'll be damned if I give up on it now. Thanks alot, and thanks to everyone else who offered their support.

man akai has to fix all these **** bugs...the 500 is limiting enough as far as hardware....the least they can do is have a stable o.s
