Leaving the MPC powered on 24/7

Does anybody leave there MPC powered on all the time? Has anyone had any trouble from doing so?

I'm constantly in & out my studio and I like to leave things powered on so I can spend less time loading sounds and more time making music but I'd like to know if this is potentially harmful to leave the MPC powered on all the time?

In the name of energy efficiency you should do your best to turn off whatever you can whenever you can...

but I have left mine on for many days at a time, so as to not lose my work until the song is done.

It is fine. It's solid state electronics and doesn't produce much heat, so you're good to go.

If you're worried about time loading sounds though, just use the autoload features.

That's dumb to leave your equipment on unless you got some crazy ass studio.

dont expect your lcd screen to last very long leaving your MP powered up all the time.......

I'd be more worried about the blue LED, so just switch that off. Think about this, solar calculators are on all day, and I've seen real old ones still going strong. So by the time the LCD is dead, the MPC technology will be outdated.

Yea I just wanted to see if someone had burned out a 500 by leaving it on for a long time... apparently not... I think my now 4 year old son may be tappin on these pads 10 years from now... This thing seems to be pretty solid by design. I was a bit skeptic about the 500 before buying it but now that I have it I'd chop someones fingers off if they tried to take it from me. I think the 500 is in the category of "props over due" I don't get why there is so much negative talk about it? It's a amazing instrument but yea...thats another topic...

Oh & it's only 12volts man, I don't think that will drain the power grid anytime soon... I keep the 100watt light bulb in my studio turned off so that more than compensates energy usage in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies, seems no one has lost a MPC yet due to continuously being powered on... I did burn out a keyboard like that after it was powered on for almost 2 years so thats why I worry and I will occasionally power down the MPC now also as I have taken a lesson learned.

leaving my mpc 2000xl on all day ruined my lcd screen, and my boy who has the mpc 4000 used to leave his on all day and it killed his screen too, word to the wise, shut that thing down when its not in use,,, if this killed the screen on the 2000xl and a 4000 jus think of what it will do to the entry level affordable model

The 500 can load "Project Files."

To do this, go to the save function and select "Entire Memory."

This will save everything, and also link it to a single project file.

When you reboot, just load the 1 file, and everything will load.

I would not leave your power on!
