I'm about to say farewell to Akai.

I had a buggy 500 that I sent back. I just got my brand new replacement 2 hours ago. First I did the 1.13 update. Then I tried to load the stuff I had saved on the CF and got the "System Error" message again and again (actually, I tried to load before AND after the 1.13 update just to be sure). I didn't even have a chance to load. I got the message as soon as it was powered on. Same problems I had before. So I formatted my CF and am going to start a new project with a clean slate. I called Akai and alerted them to this. I told them that if I try to put a new project together and this happens again, I want my money back. So they may be getting a call from me in the next 24 to 48 hours. For 600 bucks, I know of a guy who builds some awesome PC towers. If the damn machine did what it was supposed to do , it would kick ass. For cryin' out loud..........

I tried the mc 808 at a friend, and it is superior in all ways. Try it out!!!!

Why update the OS? I got my 500 with 1.11 and though it has a couple of minor bugs I have yet to see a system error pop up... I have been making 3 to 4 beats a day without any major issues.

Well, so far, no problems. But I haven't put much of a project together yet, either. I'm going to wait and see what happens when this project gets a little more complex. The real problems started happening when I was using more than one program per sequence. I'll know for sure in a couple of days.

Actually, everything on my replacement MPC seems to be working fine this time around. So Akai is back in my good graces. Thank God. I didn't want to return another machine and go through this again. But I will still consider a Roland MV-8000 or 8800 one day when I can afford it.
