Using MPC500 as a midi controller ??????

Hi, I am new to MPC's.... but have been admiring them forever... i would like to know if there is a way of connecting it to CUBASE or Fruity Loops to record my drum loops.... i am a complete thicko and canot read instruction manuals to save my life... i was wondering if some one would give a step by step instruction guid on how to do so.....

i have a laptop (vista)
my soundcard/interface - MOTU 828 MK II
Yamaha midi keyboard controller...

Software
Cubase SX 2 _ Reason 4 (Rewire)
Fruity Loops 7 for sampling..
