Hello All,

I'm new on MPC and I'm new on these forums (which are really great by the way).

I have never had any audio hardware before (I'm used to work under Acid and Cool Edit - see my myspace page if you wish: www/myspace/elgregoloco) and I just bought a brand new MPC500 (which I call "My Baby") with a Memory extension (that I should receive soon).
I chose the MPC500 mostly for its price as the MPC1000, even used, was still a bit too expensive for me (and I don't really like buying used stuffs to be frank). But also because I wanted something little and simple that I can use as a standalone music instrument (I do not use Midi, I do not plan to buy a keyboard or anthing like that, I don't even have the correct connectors for the MPC and I had to buy some RCA/Jack adapter to us my MPC :)...).

To be franck, all I want to do is sample my iPod (or a microphone) and make nice little grooves on which I can add other instruments (such as guitar) and voices... I know this will probably chock the real producers who uses a lot of different devices and complicated professional materials, but I am not a technical guy (but this is not always an issue, if you get to my myspace page you will see that some nice songs can be done with a simple Creative Live Sound Card and Acid).

I have to say that I'm pretty satisfied by my choice. I've already spent 3 full evenings laid back in my couch and playing with 'My Baby'... I put it on my knees and I play for hours like that... Just discovering all I can do with the MPC...

But I still have a few questions:
(1) Is there a chance to have a JJ OS on the MPC500 (mostly to be able to have a simple chop function which is missing for my use of the MPC)?
(2) Is there a way to easily match a sampled loop to my current project? (for example, I have project in which I use a looped sample; I have set the bpm of the project to the bpm of this loop using the tap function so that this loop loops correctly; now, I sampled another loop from a song with a different bpm... How do I put this loop to the correct speed in my project? Using the stretch function? WTF?... It seems very very very painful for someone used to Acid).
(3) What is the exact meaning of the truncate parameter (as played, sequence end, sequence duration, etc...), I do not understand the manual?
(4) What are the differences between the pad sensitivity curves A, B, C, D?

Thanks in advance for answering my question...
See ya soon... I got to go play with 'My Baby' (I'm in love I think).
