MIDI Microkorg Help?

I just bought my 500 and in the manual it has a section that states how to connect a midi keyboard with sound (microkorg) .

It says that you can connect the keyboard MIDI IN into the 500 and MIDI OUT back to the keyboard to play the sounds of the keyboard.

I believe I have it connected right but I am not getting any sound from the microkorg.

I do not want to record it as a sample, but I would like to record the midi into the 500 so that the time correction affects it, than have it midi back to the microkorg to hear the sounds.

ANYONE???

Have you set your MPC as the master, and the MicroKorg as the slave? (I've never used a MicroKorg, so am unaware of what you can set on them...)

i have the same problem as you, but what do you mean by setting the track to midi?

To play sounds from microkorg:

1. Connect midi out port of MPC to midi in port of the synth
2. Set up a reception midi channel in microkorg
3. Set up a similar midi channel on a Track in MPC (hit Track -> params and jog Data wheel to set up a midi channel)
By now you should have heard a sound from your synth, but if not:
4. Check out settings in Midi/Sync mode (Mode -> pad 7, if I am not mistaken), it should be set to ALL or As on track (or smth similar).
5. Also check the Midi note assignments for active program in memory (they could be quite random and not correspond midi notes on the keyboard).

i still can't hear anything being played from the microkorg

Check up midi connections: MPC's midi OUT should be connected to Microkorg's midi IN. If it is connected correctly, then the next thing you should check is midi channels - they should be the same for both MPC and Microkorg.
Finally, check if your audio connections are OK. Is the Microkorg's volume knob turned hard left? Are channel(s) on your mixing desk, where you plugged in Microkorg's audio outs, muted? And so on...
