MPC500 and Roland Sonic Cell

What up fellas...my chick bought me a Sonic Cell...just threw off my whole set-up for the good...need some advice

my set-up

MPC500 slaved to MIDI out of TASCAM DP-02 multi-tracker..because I hate DAW sequencing the DP-02 has MIDI Clock bars n beats timing..nice

Soundcraft Foliopad mixer ( a jewel of a little thing with clean preamp and send returns)

An analog filter connected mixer

I can play out my beats and samples w/MIDI off and then play chords over trackeds drums and samples with pads or

would you get a keyboard for the sonic cell my problem is limited MIDI ins on MPC so I cant record my riffs from Sonic Cell

need a solution ...conditions are I like a minimalist set-up to have a efficient workflow

If it has a midi in/out port, then you could try hooking up a Midi Keyboard to its midi in socket and its midi out to your MPC's midi in port and record your riffs from it directly into MPC while playing and auditioning how they sound. Just make sure it transmits the incoming midi signal and set the same midi channel on MPC's sequence track to receive the midi data.

Get a midi keyboard. Connect the MIDI OUT of the Tascam to the MIDI IN of the keyboard. Ensure keyboard's soft midi thru is ON. Connect the MIDI OUT of the keyboard to the MPC's MIDI IN. Connect the MIDI OUT of the MPC to the MIDI in of the Sonic Cell.

Connect the audio outs of the MPC and the MPC to your mixer

If it's the keyboard lines for the Sonic Cell you want to record, you can now record them as a MIDI sequence. Your MPC should still get the sync messages from the Tascam via the keyboard.If you want to sample the output of the Sonic Cell into your MPC, you'll have to route the audio from the Sonic Cell to the audio inputs of the MPC via the mixer.
