some samples wont read on the 500

tell me why i load some .wav sampes into the mpc, it will read some of the samples but not all of them, what gives?

i learned that if the name of the samples are too long, then the mpc500 can't read the sample. i ended up renaming and shortening the name of my samples and they work now.

I'd recommended to keep file names up to 8-10 symbols. Indeed, longer file names could not be read by the MPC's OS, for whatever reason. Also check out your samples' resolution (should be 16/44.1), cause MPC does not recognize 24 Bit samples.

I use a maximum of 12 characters and not had any problems.

But you can't see all the 12 symbols on MPC500's screen anyway, so I suppose keeping it around 8 symbols does make sense. Just have a system for naming samples, that's all.

You can see 12 characters on the mpc screen when looking for samples. Folders and programs you can only see 8 charcters.

Welcome! I've had the same problem myself, until I realized that it (sample rate) was in MPC's specifications ))) We are so f***ing spoilt by computers and DAWs these days, taking everything for granted, while hardware indeed has limitations.
