One Shot? Play the loop, dammit!!!

Please excuse my newb styles... Only new to the world of samplers.

My first question is how come when I hit a pad it only plays for as long as there is pressure applied to the pad? I changed it from one shot back to the other setting (one note or whatever it is), but no love!

My only other experience with samplers is a Roland SP202, so I think I'm basically after the MPC equivalent of the 'Hold' button.

Change it back to One shot. You are currently having it as Note on, so it would play as long as you press the pad (just like a piano, when you have the key pressed). And this setting indeed is used for instrument programs like keyboards and bass. One shot is for triggering drum samples.

As far as I can tell, all the pads are set to One Shot, yet I still need to hold it down to play the entire sample when I'm trying to trim it.

Same goes with the play button when I'm listening back to a sample after I've recorded it. Unless I hold down the play button, it won't play the entire sample.

It's nothing stupid, nor is it abnormal. If you edit a sample in the Trim mode, when you hit and press any pad the sample you are editing will be played back, but it's a PREVIEW of the sample. The same happens in the Record mode, when you press and hold Play. It's a normal feature for preview, if you ask me, because normally you won't have to listen to the whole sample every time you preview it (it saves time, actually).

To play a sample as it is, you have to assign it to a pad in the PROGRAM mode first. Then set up the playing mode (One shot or Note on) and have fun
