On the Fly time stretching like the Boss sp-202/303??

I have an old Boss Dr. Sample sp-202 that I use for my drops on the radio/club while dj'ing. The way the 202 is set up, I can easily turn a dial to change the bpm of my samples on the fly to match what I am playing. How easy is this with the 500? I searched for this and read the manual but didn't see anything. I am assuming I can't do this as easily as the 202 but wanted to make sure first.

It has a sample tune feature which basically pitches samples up & down stretching or shrinking play time so you can often match BPM via this method on the MPC 500.

I've only had my 500 for a couple of weeks and I haven't tried this but can't you still use the slider to adjust the pitch on the fly?

You might have to keep hitting the pad to update it but that's not bad thing if you're trying to cue it up anyway.

The manual say that the tune parameter on the slider can change the samlpe's pitch in real-time. You've got +/-12% to play with.

Okay it's not telling you the BPM but it's no worse then using a pair of decks.

Otherwise what's the point of the slider anyway?

Yes I guess you're right, never thought of that. Mind you, you can't sample on the fly and I guess without being able to do that timestretching on the fly is not that useful.
