HELP!!

Just got set up with my MPC500, using it mainly to play samples as part of a live set up, but having major problems loading files into the machine. I've bought a 1GB flashcard, and its showing the files on this, but I cannot load any to the RAM memory. Am I limited to 16MB? I can't even load 11MB at the moment (I'm guessing the internal sounds take up a load?)

Please help!!

If you don't have additional RAM installed, you are actually limited to around 11 Mb of sample memory. The rest is OS and seq and songs info. Factory sounds do take some space if they are loaded on start-up. But you can easily get rid of them by:

1. Switching off the Autoload function (look it up in the user's manual)

2. Clearing up internal flash memory of pre-installed factory samples, so that MPC starts up without any samples loaded into RAM (check out this thread for instruction: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=95801 )

Make sure that your samples are 16 bit/44.1 Khz. You can also convert stereo samples into mono to be able to load more into MPC at any one time. If you are playing live, you don't need everything in stereo. You can make it sounding stereo by panning your mono samples somewhere left or right or by using effects on them.
