Directory Error

Ok so I treid to save something on my MPC and it gave me a "Directory Error". What the **** is that? I worked on this beat for about an hour and now i have to start over. I'm going to **** punch something.

Punch the pads on your MPC. See if a nice beat comes out.

Haha, good one. Try to take your cf card out, and re-isert it.

Yeah i did that. I have an extra card so i'm all good because shit actually saves on this one. I might try reformating the other one in the meantime.

sometimes the mpc just fukks up. When this happens it tendts to "corrupt" the card. The only solution is to back everything up to your computer and format the cf card with the mpc.

Yeah that's probably what I'll end up doing.

Hah, I've lost beats that I worked on for a couple of days. Then I had to go back and re-do the whole thing from memory (in my head). I have sent a 500 back, gotten a replacement, sent the replacement back for a repair, and the thing still gives me that CPU addr 896afa....bullshit when I try to load things up. I haven't been on here in awhile, but I can see that the same problems still exist. I just lost a beat last night. Just leave the damn thing on all the time and turn off the backlight. I'm going to try to USB my 500 to my computer and move my ALL and Project files to a new folder and then try to load it up again. I never tried that. Maybe I can still retrieve my sequence and program data. That would be cool.........

Eimer's suggestion is one I will try, too. Sounds like it would work.

It is (in my case) most often the sequences that fukks up.

Eimer: I confirm that. In my case it was a sequence which stalled the MPC with that CPU addr message displayed on screen.

No, I tried to back everything up on the computer, format the CF card and then reload everything, but the files are still screwed. That sucks. My last resort is to buy a different brand CF card, start a new project and then hope that I have no more problems. I am currently using a Toshiba 1GB card. If that doesn't work, then I am selling this piece of junk.

Today i've been banging for the hole day on a project and saved my work like i thought is right. At the end I also saved the beat with "save the whole project" procedure and guess what? It f*ked up my files and I cant load my music. Peace of crap. version 3 of the OS and still a shitty thing like that? Akai proves it's worse than steinberg and yamaha. the mpc500 is still in development stage. fak it

Well, it won't help you to get the music back, sorry. A new card wouldn't help either.
