MPC 500 -Uprade!

Hi there!

I wanted to know if i make an upgrade for my MPC 500 (Version: 1.13).
Do i lose any of the internal sounds or anything?
Cause i already erased all sounds on my akai library (not by not knowing, but i got a broken mpc 500 over ebay, where the socket of the ram-expansion is broken and so the system got screwed and the lcd-display only shows wrong text!) and i don't want to lose the presets.

Also: Setting to default settings....do i lose the sounds?
And can somebody give me detailed information of how to change the broken ram-socket?

Why? Because sounds and OS load separately: first the OS, when booting up the machine; after that the sounds from internal flash. So, upgrading or modifying the OS doesn't affect internal sounds. By the way, you can backup internal sounds by choosing: Save (mode + pad 3), then scroll to Save Entire Memory, then choose a folder in CF card and then press Do It. Then copy all saved data to HD in your computer. This way you can always revert to the factory sounds, if you screw up something.

Again, "defaulting" settings will only affect OS, not samples.

How to change the broken RAM socket? Official way: look for the nearest Akaipro dealer and/or service center. Akaipro is Alesis-Numark trademark now, so you can also look for the dealer list at Alesis-Numark web-site. The "guerrilla" way: look for the nearest computer service shop. MPC is a computer in disguise, so they can fix the slot for you, once they have seen it, I guess.
