How to start a completely new project and erase old from RAM

I got my MPC 500 earlier this week and have virtually no complaints. One thing confuses me though. The way I work on beat is this. I sample all my drums and instruments, and then when I get things the way I like it -- I dump all contents of the RAM to my CF card as a project inside a new folder.

Is there a way to empty out all the samples, sequences, and other information so I can start working on a new project without turning the machine off and then on again? Once I start sampling new audio and working on new sequences I don't like to dump all contents of the RAM to my CF card when old samples, programs, and other stuff is still there.

Checked the instructions but didn't find any clear information. Hopefully someone can help.

Yes, there is a way to do that. Just clear up RAM of any sequences/programs/samples but one, and save it as a project somewhere in your CF card. When the project file is loaded, the contents of MPC's RAM is always cleared. So I guess, that will work.

You may save one of your favourite drum programs with this project. This way you will always have something to start playing with right away, once the project is loaded into RAM. You could also consider putting a folder with this empty project in the root directory of the memory card and naming this folder so that it is the first one (that's to avoid tedious browsing to find this folder).

Thanks man. That's a good trick. Kind of lame that there's just not a "clear memory" toggle somewhere though . . .

You can also delete samples in trim mode.

SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY. Power off. Power on.

haha that's what I have been doing.

When loading a program you have always the option the erase the memory of all programs and samples. Sequences remain, they don't take a lot of memory space.
Just use an empty program to load when clearing you memory. That's how I did it.
