Recording external device while mpc is recording

Let`s say i make a beat and want to add some scratches with my turntables. How?

Can i only record threw the REC IN lay it on a pad and then add it??

Go into record mode and hit the play button. Then the sequence wil be running while you can record the new sound/track.

Well thats an easy answer:) but that doesnt work on my mpc! If I hit mode and record in i`m not able to hit the play or rec button!

I think what I mean is called "direct recording"

What?? Yoy just press play and then press "do it". Now you should be able to hear the sequence while you record? Somethin would be wrong if this doesn't work!

Is direct record a function of your mpc?
