simple question..

i have a 2gb card that came loaded already with samples but when i try to load the program (for example: Drumkit c) it won't load to the pads ..and i have like 20 folders full of samples and it when i try to load those.. my mpc500 always says "INSUFFICIENT MEMORY"...Wat to do??

Are you sure you've assigned the program to the track you're playing?

And for "insufficient memory...", you've propably running out of ram. Press the status-button on the top right corner and see if this is the case.

MPC can only load as many samples, as its RAM allows. If you don't have additional 128 Mb of RAM installed, then you have only 11-12 Mb of RAM for your samples. Of 16 Mb of on-board default RAM, 4-5 Mb are always reserved for OS and seq&song data. The rest is for samples and programs. Insufficient memory message appears when the RAM is full and you are trying to load more samples. So, check your samples' size and memory status (as thecatinside suggests) before you load.

There are some ways of maximizing RAM use:

1) Convert stereo samples to mono, whenever it is possible (drum samples have to be mono, you can stereorize them later by panning in the program mode)

2) Don't use drum samples with long reverb or delay tails (instead, you can use short samples and apply a reverb effect from MPC's on-board effects kit on them)

3) Sometimes you can use the Purge function in Program mode to delete all samples that are unused in any program.

I don't quite understand why loading a program won't load samples to pads. yeah, check the track assignment first, then check out the program itself. Also check other pad banks (A, B, C or D). Maybe that program don't have any samples assigned to pads in bank A. Or whatever... Anyway, once you have samples loaded, you can assign them to pads, can't you?

wat does... Wav:100% Sq:100% mean when u push the status button???

I'm surprisingly thick on occasions.. Especially when drunk

"Wav:100% Sq:100%" means that the memory of your mpc is empty.

If that's what the status is, you should be looking the solution to your problem from elsewhere.

Maybe he needs to check the status after loading all his stuff. When you load programs with assigned samples when ur out of RAM, most of the time it will load the program with it settings, but no samples. Then it's quite logical you don't hear any sound when hitting the pads. So check ur status and programs after loading all your folders.
Check the sample assign in your program mode. If there's a question mark behind the samples name ( kick1 ? ) , the MPC wasn't able to load in the files because there's not enough RAM availible.
