How to stop a one shop sample from playing -- possible?

Let's say I have a one shot 5 second sample on one pad and I accidently hit it off-time while playing around with it in sequence mode. Is it possible to make it stop playing? I read the manual from front to back but don't remember reading anything about this. Or let's say I stop a sequence while a one shot sample is still playing but want to make the sample stop so I can restart the sequence without hearing samples overlap? Any way to do this? It's real annoying.

I'm not talking about editing here, but just stopping a sample from playing while auditioning it in sequence mode. Hope I'm being clear enough.

Not sure if this is applicable to the 500 but, on the 1000, pressing Stop button 3 times kills all sounds playing.

yea, pressing the stop button 2-3 times will stop anything from playing, on any mpc. i usually do that with strings when they linger on, i'll just press stop like 2-3 times.

You can also stop a long sample from playing in a sequence. Set the long sample to the same mute group as a pad with no samples assigned to it. That Empty pad now becomes like a off switch for any other pad in the same mute group, and you can record that in your sequence.

damn i never knew you could hit the stop button 3 times to stop it. I was always going to the trim screen to stop the playing

Bedouin: You can assign the pad with this sample to a mute group, then assign another pad to the same mute group (make sure there's a sample assigned to it and set the sample's volume to 0). When you screw up when playing live, just hit this "mute" pad and this will trigger the mute of the one shot, I guess. That's a workaround when you want to play along with a sequence and hitting stop will stop the sequence, which will screw up the song if it is being played live.
