I don't get you...'until MIDI comes into play' ???
ok there is no latency when knocking on the Pads, but this thing is made to sequence (=to play MIDI notes) right ?
So above you state that the MPC timing is the best, but you do agree that if you use it as a 'sequencer' it gets out of sync and freezes up the Gui !?

For me the most Basic functionality of any sequencer in my studio is that it plays exactly what I programmed in it, in time !! again, only my most expensive gear the MPC is the only thing that can NOT deliver this basic functioanlity of what a sequencer is supposed to do (as opposed to my other sequencers : XL7, RS7000, Machinedrum/Monomachine and yes, even ableton)
I'm still having a very hard time taking this MPC seriously (and all the people raving about it that it's the best sequencer on the market)...I have too many other stuff lying around that delivers what it is made for to compare, so I am at least very sceptic about my MPC
I still hope one day it will deliver the basics it's intended for...

You should Youtube that video, most people dont want to download that. Oh and there are several MPC models... why didnt you choose one with a mature OS? If its giving you that much trouble sell it. If you have several other sequencers that all work why dont you use those?

I just saw your video. I have not run into that problem. I can offer you a work-a-round. Why not just use two different sequences with different programs?

Better yet show Akai so they can either replace your unit or fix the OS.

 ... you new MPC Cats that get a MPC 5000 for your first MPC kill me with this info... When i say MPC Timing, im talkin MPC's across the board, from my MPC 2000XL, MPC 3000, MPC 4000's, that i have used, to me they are the best... i can care less how you feel or disagree with me... The MPC 5000 VS 2.0 still has some kinks thats need to be worked out, yes(as a matter of fact, those MPC's werent even made by the same company as these new ones are made by, supposedly Numark).... but again, the statements clearly states MPC(it doesnt point to just the 5000). Yall spend too much time on the boards complaining about someones quote or how they feel, instead of handling what you have a problem with in the BUG THREAD. I list my problems just like yall do, in the BUG THREAD. My biggest gripe is the Sync, and Latency...

And the people that are raving about MPC's told you about their preference, if you wanted a real MPC and you are only sequencing, maybe you should go back to earlier MPC's until they can get this one Bug free for you.

People have they likes about whatever they prefer, as i said before. I still like Producing on my MPC 2000XL although i bought the MPC 5000 cause i wanted some change, but im waiting to see what they will do about the bugs in OS 2.0 before i get rid of it... Which i have a lot of likes for as well, except for some of the bugs.

well, the reason I bought the MPC (and would like to keep it) is because I was looking for a 'one box' solution to do live sets : I don't want to drag around my TR909 and a Machinedrum and RS7000 for beats, and some synths...the idea was to sample them all and build up my liveset from these samples (and 192 MB is enough for that.
I also want to load it with 50 mb of drumsounds I can choose from while putting together songs.
My results so far :
. if I load a couple of kits , make some 'tracks' in a sequence and want to scroll to another 'kit' in a track, the MPC almost chokes : not really what I expected (and again : on none of my other synths, sequencers going from one 'program' to another is any problem)
. if I sample a 4 bar loop, then make a 'patched phrase' and use that in my sequence, it sounds different then when using the original 4 bar loop sample (als reported in the bug thread)

so now you know my reason to buy the MPC and exactly what I expected from it (and reading the Manual before I bought this thing, it surely stated I would be able to do this without any problem)

I know 'workarounds' enough, why can't I just switch from one drumkit to another while the sequence is playing, without hickups in Gui/sound ? all my other gear can do this...

yea... hopefully they will hurry up and pump out this OS 2.1 or something to fix all these issues for you and us
