This is just a thread for posting any audio or media devices that don't work well or at all with the MPC5000. For example:compact flash memory cards, internal hard drives, c.d/dvd burners, etc. I'll start it off.

Kingston 2gig compact flash II memory card

hi there, great idea to spread info about hardware problems :)
my old Kingston 256MB works fine in mpc1k & mpc5k since 2005. I did however read about problems with a 2GB Kingston card on this forum. Perhaps it's just some models that cause problems?
There is a Western digital caviar blue HD 500GB that seems to fail in mpc5k. I read about it in the "so you want to upgrade your mpc 5000" thread recently.
we started a thread about working CF cards and HD when I worked with my mpc1k, a few years back.
it felt like a good thing to name working hardware to guide other users :)

PEOPLE, THIS THREAD IS FOR THE MPC 5000.... certain things may work in your other MPC Models, but the MPC 5000 is reportedly having issues with certain accessories

Yeah, i was the one that had a whooooleee weekend worth of HELL dealing with this issue that posted it.... but a thread such as this is very necessary, and we also need to keep it updated often so people dont have to search thru it hard to find out what doesnt work.

So maybe when we have an issue, and some how we can copy and paste the other problems, that way, it will follow it down the list or somethin like that or we will just update it

yeah but you cant rule out an entire cf card brand because one card doesn't work. for example, I have a sandisk card that only works in my mpc... it does nothing at all in the computer. also, some people have no issue wit kingston cards where as some people have problems. it is hit or miss since akai didn't release a real hardware compatability list (they want you to buy their expensive stuff).

it more depends on the card... so you often have to try a few.

I agree with you! And I just want to state that I didn't want to give the impression that Kingston as a brand is to be ruled out. I just wanted to state that the 2gig Kingston compact flash had an issue with the 5k. I didn't mean to generalize staying away from Kingston as a brand all together. Sorry for the misunderstanding. :(

No, im talking exact models and types... If i call Akai, and they tell me that something exactly doesnt work... it should be/should have been posted, especially on here
