i sold my 60II because it was way too limited to manage my songs.

I kept the 2kxl and the 3k.

My question for yall users that have owned other mpc's...

does it sound good.

I know I wasnt a big fan of the 1000 sound... seemed thin in the lows and twangy in the highs... Is this the same sampling engine?

What do you not like about the machine? is it the same as the 1k and 2500 workflow?

things you hate?

I noticed a slight improvement over the 2500. The 5k has new filters and faster envelopes. The fx are much better than past MPC's.

.....well, it's not the 2000 /xl sample engine and converters...
and it's not the 3000 sample engine and converters...not at all...
same with 4k.....
and it could'nt be the 60's one....

it is the SAME engine as in 1000 and 2500....sorry. converters? i'm not sure....

but as mentioned, the filters are much more flexible....and yeah, she's (the 5k) a beauty..outside...and inside, anyways.....

the workflow is THE mpc workflow....but a bit better in the overview....seems they had a close look to jj os before the started the 5k design...many gimmicks found their way to the 5k os......

she'll make you happy in the end, promise......

Said most of it here already.
Great that you took the leap Bro.
For all the flack it this machine gets plus it temporary short comings.
Its still the best at what it does and what it does it does is the best.

Thanks guys.

I think its all about the man behind the machine. Ive made dope beats on all the mpc's, and I've made shitty ones too. It is more about the vibe the equipment gives you. I have a harder time turning on my ASR than my MPCs because it takes longer to build on that thing... But when I do turn it on, I remember why I will never get rid of that thing ever.

Do you all think that the 5k is as beautiful as I do?

My roomate works for styleflip.com... and they told me if I let them (aka my roomate and me) measure it for a template (we do this already in autocad) that they will give me a free style flip for it... which would make it the first ever style flipped mpc5k... I just don't know if I could slap that sticker on there right away. the thing looks dope already.

I've had jus about every machine,and I must say the 5k is a beast,but converter's on it
is for the new generations of sound,so you want get that ASR-10 sound. Man... that boy (ASR) is the bomb as far as it's converters, I remember almost blowing my speakers everytime i turned on the ASR-wow ! wish I would have kept it. your still getting a good
machine homie, oh should have kept that 60-2 that's the classic man....!!!!!!!! :)

Yeah, but my 60II had OS 1... and I already got the 3000, so it wasnt adding much for me.

the dope thing is, i am going to slave the ASR to the 5k once it arrives, so I really dont have to worry about the converters.

I just hate how the lows sound on the 1000. its not clear or deep... almost like you just timestretched something and it sounds like crap now.

I hope this is not the case with the 5k... If it is, I may have to get rid of it.

no point in having a dope machine that sounds like shit.
