Hi guys, hope you are doing better than I am.

So I have this live PA that I am trying to get ready before Oct 1 but working with the MPC5000 has been nothing but problems after problems after problems.

I have overcome most of them, like corrupted programs amongst other thigns but right now I am having this weird ass issue were I get No Memory available when trying to upload a folder that has about 32 programs and no samples. At some point after loading what seems like 20 something programs the mpc just throws an "No Memory available error" or another one that says "Out of Veng" regardless after that happens I get ridiculous amounts of Free Wave Memory... for example right now it says I have 3559.2MN of free Wav memory when in reality I should have around 188 MB.

Can anyone she some light into this? if this keeps happening I will have to either cancel my live PA or sell this things and get back my mpc2500 which worked really really well.

Come on Akai give me a hand please.

Not trying to be smart, but your mpc5k is telling you what is wrong. You need to swap out the ram. The ram you have in there seem to be bad or not functioning well with the mpc5k.

First thing I will do is pull the ram to see if the mpc5k work well without the ram. Then reseat the ram inside and to see how the mpc5k perform. If that don't work, get new ram.

I installed it myself. do you recommend opening it and checking it's fine?

I doubt it's the ram, but maybe it is? I think it has to do with a limit to the amount of programs I can load?

Is there a limit of programs you can load?

Ok when loading my programs I get the following error as well:

(VEng) No Return from

and then I hit OK, it goes back to the loading screen and it says Wave Free 0.0 KB (even though I have not loaded a single .WAV)

and then if I go into a folder the Wave Free changes to 774.4MB

This HAS to be a memory overflow issue or something.... how is this thing even registering that amount of available memory.

I wonder if it's my ram or WTF is going.

ritec wrote:Yes some of these programs were definitely created on the mpc2500. That is a good point. What should I do aobout those?

thanks for helping me get to the bottom of this.

Hmmm, you could perhaps try loading those ones seperately and then resave them on the 5K.

On the 'Save a Program' screen, ensure the 'Program Format:' parameter is set to 'MPC5000' then resave.

Worth a try ;-)

So i did this and it seems like the akai is working better. thanks for the tip. Hopefully I won't get any more errors.

On that tip when saving some of my program I also get the following error: Name already exists and I can't find anything with the same name on the folder I am saving. it's a bit weird to say the least.
