Memory problems due to too many programs?

Hey people,

Just got this machine and trying to figure some things out..

Every time I load up a couple of programs from the disk, next thing I know it's saying I don't have enough memory to open another.

Why is this happening? Do I have to delete programs after using them?

loading to much samples ? sample memory is limited you know....

purge or

delete the programs, but delete all samples. pad mode+trim

What's the difference between purging and deleting?

Also, if I delete the samples will I still be able to use the sounds in the programs? I am talking about all the sounds your mpc comes with.

I had this happened to me as well... try loading each program one at a time and see ifall the samples load properly. there might be some corrupted samples, some not properly named sampled (period in name) or other anomalies. I find the mpc5000 is very picky when loading a lot of samples.

check out this thread I made a long time ago.. at the end everything turned out ok, but I spent a long time troubleshooting.
