I asked this question on "8 track 'audio' automation editing" before and I think I didn't get a response because I wasn't very clear.

Here are the steps to use if you want to create this scenario:

1. Record a simple sequence.
2. Switch to song mode and create a song with the sequence just made.
3. Click on the HD REC Tab.
4. Click F6 (DO IT)
5. Arm an audio track to record.
6. Hit Record/play-start and record some audio to one of the 8 tracks available.
7. Stop recording, unarm the track, and click on the HD Mix tab.
8. Hit record/play-start and, while the sequence and audio tracks are playing back, move the volume and/or pan of the HD mixer to create some automation for the audio track you just recorded.
9. Stop recording and play the track back.

Now when the song is played back, the audio track faders/pans, under HD Mix tab, are moving and updating based on the pan and volume changes you have made.

So my question is, can the automation of the “audio track,” just recorded, be graphically edited via step edit or grid edit or any other method? Or, would the only way to make changes to the automation be to re-record or overdub the automation?

I spoke with an Akai Tech and it was determined that the automation would have to be performed correctly the first time or be re-recorded or overdubbed.

Now The Good News :D : The technician was very kind and said he would elevate this concern as a new feature request.
