Ok,I got a question I been a hardware guy for years but recently I been thinking about moving over to pro-tools (I know nothing about pro-tools,well maybe a little..)ok,I own a 5000 and would like to integrate that into pro-tools 9 I would like to use all 8 outs of my MPC plus the two stereo outs now with pro-tools should get an m-box plus an out board mixer or just one or the other?? (I also know I could import/export my tracks I just need a way to get more than one track at a time and better EQ and compression than what's inside the mpc )appreciate some help on this thanx.

Doesn't have to be an M-Box with Pro Tools 9, you can run any third party interface as long as it supports either Core Audio on a Mac or ASIO on a PC. There's plenty of decent priced interfaces with 6 or 8 inputs, not sure what's available if you wanted to use all 10 MPC outputs at once though. But yes, a mixer could be used to group some sounds, although you could just use the internal mixer on the MPC to do that.

Your eq and compression could be done inside pro-tools, per track or on busses/master.

Get an audio interface with as many inputs as you need. There are some audio interfaces that are also mixers and audio interfaces that are control surfaces as well. Research.
