What's up everybody! After lurking for over a decade at getting an mpc, I finally got a 5000. Feels good to take the hand off the mouse for once and go grass roots.

What I had a question is that how do you guys organize your hard drive without making it too messy to easily pull up later.

I've been saving entire songs, seq, samples in a new song folder for convenience but it seems like its doubling up on resources when some samples are elsewhere.
I only do this to save time when loading up.

I'd like to see what everybody else's techniques are.

Thanks

i have a BANK folder with all the sample packs...

one BEAT folder for the song's file, inside here i have many sub-folders, one for beat...

a SONG folder for the beat's wav (i use to record the beat in the box before mastering it) and a CONTROLLER folder, where i stock midi program settings i use when i connect the unit to daws or plug ins

actually i'm new to the unit, so i use the same system i used before with the 500... i would like to know a faster way to save, saving entire memory project everytime si a bit long

I save all my beats to CF card because they seem to be more stable than a hard drive. CF Cards dont have moving parts. The hard drive i reserve for my sounds and exports and imports

Hard drive is backed up on my documents folder and external HDD (I've lost data/sessions/beats before on external hdd so I keep multi copies of my MPC hdd)

MPC Hard drive looks like this

Import - In this folder I have a "Acapella" folder and a "Samples" folder
Export - In this folder I have a "Wavs" and a "Sessions"
PGM - I keep PGM files here that I tend to load regularly.
Sounds Library - This folder contains all of the following
- Drums (for my libraries *Crate kings, MPC samples, Bangin Beats, Loop Masters, Akai, Sounds in HD, All The Breaks etc *)
- Misc Sounds
- MultiSamples
- My Kits (for kits that I made and/or load often)
- My Synths (for synth patches I've created on the 5000)
- Samples (samples already chopped but not used)
