At work looking at the box wanting to throw a sickie.

Looking forward to picking all your brains ; )

Just for info. I'll be using the 5000 to produce Detroit Style Techno & Deep House. I'll be pairing it up with an Octatrack pretty soon.

If this is your first MPC don't get discouraged because your not banging out tracks 20 mins after turning it on LOL. Keep the book next to you so when you can't figure out how to do something, it's right next to you. ;)

I turned off the auto load on mine, sense I don't have anything attached to mine other then a turntable..... I feel there's no need to have anything loaded at start up.
( I'll make an auto load when I get a my keyboard and external gear midi up to it.)

Have fun and If you have any Q's..... There are a few very knowledgable guys in here that know the 5000 inside and out.

Yes this is my first MPC, although i bought an MV8000 when they first came out. I didn't get to use the MV much though, i can't remember why, those years are a bit of a blur unfortunately.

I've not made music for about 4 years so taking a little more time to learn the MPC inside out won't be a problem.

Cheers, Dan!

Word. I agree with Dan L... its the type of machine that is so feature packed and misunderstood because of it. you can do anything with this joint. IT can take a minute to get to know the machine (much like the MV 8000 or 8800... my guy has one and its a roller coaster to learn) but once you get past the learning curve the tuff stuff becomes you secret weapons in your technique.

I always recommend the following links resources...

Thanks, psr.

So far i'm finding the MPC really easy to navigate. I've already started putting together a lovely moody Deep House jam! My only annoyance at the moment being that all my records, studio kit, turntables are packed away due to work going on in the house so i'm working solely with the stock sounds. Still, an 808, 909 & some good programming is all you need sometimes.
