Hi dear friends ! I intend to buy an large diaphragm mic. So what I wonder is would I be able to record the MIC directly in my DAW using the MIC IN on the MPC5000 or I will be able to use the MIC only in the MPC itself ? I just don't have much experience with MICs as this will be my first MIC. Thanks my friends !

The MPC will allow you to record directly into it with any MIC. However, if you use a mic that requires a preamp, you would have to first route the mic into the preamp and then connect it to the npc.

For example, you cannot connect a Shure SM58 mic directly into the MPC and record. But, a mic like a baby blue bottle requires a preamp and you could not get enough gain to enter the MPC with out a preamp.

The Shure 58 is a cardiod type mic.
The Baby Bottle is a condenser type mic and would need a preamp.

The MPC has 8 outs and a stereo out so you can pass the signal out the MPC and into whatever you like, even your DAW.

The [RECORD IN] jacks are 1/4" / Mic combo jacks, allowing either type of connector to be used.(See manual page 8)
