pad sensors and mode button malfunctions

my pads have slowly but surely been malfunctioning for the last three years and now about 3 pads are functional on each bank . Is it common for the sensors to go out this quickly? also now when i start my 5k and press the mode button to try to select a function it automatically opens up different functions such as song mode or the program page, as well as other functions ! could it be more serious than needing to change the sensors , if so any help on changing sensors myself thanks!!!!

I had the same exact problem. I changed sensors and pads (all purchased from mpcstuff) and all seemed going fine until I closed my mpc. Once closed I found that pads 1 to 4 were not functioning, while when I tested them without the upper panel installed all the pads worked...

I tried to check this: mode OTHER, tab PADS. Here I found that the pad indicator at the upper left changed continuously, same for the velocity and aftertouch indicators. It seemed like I was hitting all the damn pads like crazy, while I neither touched them. It seemed something like a false electrical contact or something... like some pads sent continuous trigger/aftertouch signals for being hold down. Meh...

I now solved this issue closing the MPC without putting in place the four screws on the lower edge of the front panel, and all seems ok... Don't know why, but this worked for me.

EDIT: after some days I already have some problems with pads not working properly. I'm having so many problems with this MPC I don't even dare to sell it... f*ck I want a Tempest!

I have been going threw this same issue for last week or so. Had brought mine used as well from guitar center, From the start I new something was odd. I even posted this issue but no one replied. guitar center ordered me another from another store out of state and it should arrive any day now. Its weird because this issue came and went, it actually has been working out of the blue all day today for first time . no pad issues at all but i will exchange any ways when other model comes in.I really don't know if its os or sensors or what however it seems that only 5k has this issue which tells me it could be os but i am not sure.
