£200 for a laptop drive probably based on or actually is the teac 224e is ridiculous.

Has anyone had positive experiences with other drives or does everyone just pay 10x the cost of what it should be and be done with it?

Thanks

there's long thread in 2500 section, teac 224e will work just fine..all you have to do is push in one of the pins in the back of it to make it slave instead of master.

If you go to mpc stuff,it says "Brand New MPCstuff CD/DVD RW Upgrade Drive for MPC 2500 and MPC5000. Make sure to select which unit you have above next to the add to cart button. Use the CDM25 to load and sample CDs and DVDs. Write your files to the CD with this ultimate upgrade for your MPC 2500 or MPC5000."
So i figure there is a difference.

Yeah, they're for reconditioned units, but still cheaper by a mile... I spotted that and yep it does indicate there is a difference.

Thanks!
