so if you go into the sample edit screen, under the filter tab, and open up the filter envelope window, there's an adjustment where you can have the velocity effect the filter cutoff, even if its just above nothing at all, ....this effect is amazing and should definitely be experimented with.
....also, ...i was looking through the manual on step edit mode, ...and it looks like you should be able to actually change the tempo right in the middle of a sequence, ...that was something i thought i could only do on Cubase, (when i had it). there are many things i'm figuring out about sequence edit, and step edit that i didn't know, and i need to learn more.
...also, ...i'm new to raw synthesis, ...so i was trying to figure out how to use the 'white/red/pink' noise oscilators, ...and what i did today was put the 'pink' noise on the second oscilator, ..but i adjusted the volumes and resonance and used pulse width on the other two oscilators, ...until when i played high notes, i had a small tone barely piercing through the noise, ....that was nothing until i put it through the large hall reverb 2, ...and from there through the fuzz distortion and adjusted the wet/dry ratio's.
....i ended up with such an organic sound, ....it was like something you would record in nature, ....but at the same time it made a perfect lead for my beat, ...and it was totally musical and didn't mess my other tracks up too much, ....that's a very powerful sound, something i haven't been able to do since i cut a snippet of my own voice in an MV8000 and timestretched it an put a huge reverb on it, all from kinda yelling in a $20 radioshack mic, ......and i hadn't been able to recreate that sound again until now.
...this is good man, ...even without the updates, ....keep learning, ...there's more here than meets the eye, ....and don't worry, ...they'll give us an update or two when we're ready, ...not necessarily to just *add features*, ...probably more to make things easier, and more efficient, and more *complete* as-is, ...that is the akai way.
...and don't knock new mark, ...other than JJ who was just butt-hurt, and left of his own accord, ...they kept most all of the engineers at Akai who know the MPC almost as good as perhaps roger lynn himself.
...anyway, ....peace.
