MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Everytime I try to record samples from my keyboard using the [Record In] Jacks (1/4" / Mic Combo) no sound will come out. But soon as I hook it up to the [Phono In] Jacks (RCA) everything seems to be working properly. Is there somethin' wrong wit my MPC (Brand New) or is this somethin' I gotta fix by updating my machine. I know I got everything hooked up right and the settings set right, so if anybody has any answers or suggestions I'd highly appreciate it! Thanks!

Yeah, and I just updated my MPC today and that still didn't work. I don't know what the problem is. I tried to e-mail Akai about the problem from their website but I guess I'm just gonna have to give 'em a call or somethin.

If you are sample the analog INs you don't need INPUT THRU turned ON. You do need MONITOR turned ON in the REC SAMPLE page. Maybe try re initializing (hold ERASE while you power up....you should ALWAYS do this after an update) It'll set the 5000 to default.

I tried that too after I updated my machine. Looks like I'm the only one havin' this problem. I just gotta give Akai a call and see what they gotta say. I've been messin' wit MPC's ever since the 2500 came out so I know what how I'm supposed to have everything setup, it's just not producing a sound for me through the analog inputs unless I hook it up through the RCA jacks

Aight, sorry everybody, I feel stupid as hell! All I had to do was switch that little swith to the right of the screen [Input Select] over to Mic. I thought setting that to Mic would cause distortion since I was using my keyboard so I had it set to Phono the whole time. That's why I could get it to play when I hooked it up to the RCA Jacks and not the 1/4" Jacks. So if there are any mods. on here, you can go ahead and delete this thread. THANKS TO EVERYBODY THAT TOOK THE TIME TO TRY TO HELP ME OUT, I APPRECIATE IT A LOT!
