I dont own the MPC5000 yet, but I am interested the track mute groups feature. I read the manual and didn't see if there was a way to make a track mute group from just a snapshot of the tracks that are active at the moment. I get the impression that you would pretty much have to know which tracks you want on or off then go the track mute group page and turn them on or off.

Pressing [Track Mute ] button will take you into the TRACK MUTE menu. There are two tabs; Track Mute (F1) and Track Grp (F2). The F1 tab will display the status of tracks. Un-used tracks will be identified as such. Tracks being used will be identified by the default or given name by the user. The F2 tab is where you can go to assign each track to 1 of 16 groups. In this Track Group tab, users determine which tracks will be grouped together. Toggle back to the F1 tab and hitting a pad (which represents a track) will mute that track and any other track assigned to that same group.

Hope this helps.....
